It only takes 25-30% of a community to shift a cultural norm. This pledge is intended to do just that by demonstrating that families across our town are creating a new “everyone else is doing it” narrative.

One way to make it easier to hold out is by choosing a kid-safe phone which avoids the danger and distractions of smartphones. You can absolutely give your child a basic phone and still honor the spirit of this pledge.

By taking this pledge, I join a group of parents committed to delaying giving our child(ren) an unrestricted smartphone. Specifically, that means no smartphone with social media apps or browser (kid-safe devices are fine!) for my child's 2025-2026 school year. Please list your child(ren)'s grade for the 2025-2026 school year. In order to help build community, we will connect you privately with the parents of students in each child's grade.
