It only takes 25-30% of a community to shift a cultural norm. This pledge is intended to do just that by demonstrating that families across our town are creating a new “everyone else is doing it” narrative.
One way to make it easier to hold out is by choosing a kid-safe phone which avoids the danger and distractions of smartphones. You can absolutely give your child a basic phone and still honor the spirit of this pledge.

By taking this pledge, I join a group of parents who will delay traditional smartphones for the 2026-2027 school year. You can absolutely sign the pledge and give your child a phone or watch that has just texting/calling/location without social media and internet access. The pledge can be renewed annually. Pledge counts are shared anonymously onsite, and pledge members will be connected to one another privately via email.
